چکیده

It is of great significance to study the spatial-temporal variations thickness gas hydrate stability zone (GHSZ) understand decomposition, migration, accumulation and dissipation hydrate, corresponding relationship between bottom-simulating reflectors (BSRs) distribution heterogeneous hydrate. We selected Dongsha region in South China Sea (SCS) as research object calculate variation GHSZ since 10 Ma, analyzed main factors affecting GHSZ, discussed dynamic processes proposed an model region. The results show that thicknesses area were 0 m 100 from 5.11 relatively higher bottom water temperature (BWT) was key factor leading thinner during this period. From 5.11-0 gradually increased but showed several fluctuations due changes geothermal gradient, seawater depth, BWT, other factors. decrease BWT thickening Ma. are 110 415 at present. present spatial features following characteristics. deep canyon thick, with generally 225 m, while areas thin, m. Based on characteristics two models proposed: a double-BSRs thinning multilayer single or multiple BSRs.

Identification of Gas Accumulation Adjacent to the Gas Hydrate Bearing Zone by Inversion Utilizing AVO Attribute

The presence of gas hydrate and associated gas in the Makran Accretionary Prism, offshore Iran, has been confirmed by various seismic indicators, including the bottom-simulating reflector (BSR), amplitude blanking, and bright spot. The pre-stack analysis and the study of amplitude-variation-with-offset (AVO) attributes are the most reliable tools for semi-quantitative study of gas hydrate and f...

Passing gas through the hydrate stability zone at southern Hydrate Ridge, offshore Oregon

We present an equilibrium model of methane venting through the hydrate stability zone at southern Hydrate Ridge, offshore Oregon. Free gas supplied from below forms hydrate, depletes water, and elevates salinity until pore water is too saline for further hydrate formation. This system self-generates local three-phase equilibrium and allows free gas migration to the seafloor. Log and core data f...

Focus on the Development of Natural Gas Hydrate in China

Natural gas hydrate, also known as combustible ice, and mainly composed of methane, is identified as a potential clean energy for the 21st century. Due to its large reserves, gas hydrate can ease problems caused by energy resource shortage and has gained attention around the world. In this paper, we focus on the exploration and development of gas hydrate as well as discussing its status and fut...

Gas hydrate stability zone modeling in the Krishna Godavari Basin, Eastern margin of India

The Krishna Godavari (KG) basin is rich in gas hydrate and exhibits an area of wide range of gas hydrate stability zone (GHSZ). In this region, we modeled the base of the gas hydrate stability zone (BGHSZ) utilizing in situ temperature measurements acquired during national gas hydrate program (NGHP) Expedition-01. The bottom simulation reflector (BSR) closely approximates the BGHSZ, and due to ...
